Enabling Two-Factor Authentication 2FA (Optional)
Enabling 2FA!
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a way to improve security, and prevent unauthorized persons from accessing user accounts.
- Practically, 2FA means storing a secret inside an authenticator, usually on a mobile phone, and exchanging a code from the authenticator when trying to log in.
- This means an unauthorised user would need to guess the account password and have access to the authenticator, which is a more difficult proposition.
TIP: Click the links on the left to download your preferred authenticator app or password manager.
- As per the previous step, navigate to "My Profile" and select Account Security tab. Toggle the Two-Factor Authentication button.
- A Two-Factor Authentication Activation pop-up window appears, with a QR code.
- Open your mobile phone and navigate to your chosen authenticator app or install an authenticator app on your mobile device i.e. Authy, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator
- Add an account and/or scan the QR Code when requested to do so
- Enter the verification code and click Activate
- You will get an in-app notification that 2FA has been added to your account
- The next time you log in, you will be asked to enter your six-digit code.
- NB: Only if you are using a trusted device, tick “Don’t ask again on this device”.
- Click Log in
